Spring Conference in the Works

By now you should have received the flyer in the mail about the Spring Conference which is being held April 28 & 29 at the Gilmore Center at Bronson Hospital.  This conference has as speakers many nationally known within AORN circles.  The information presented varies from Laparoscopic Burns to Legal Issues that Affect Perioperative Nurses. If you would like more information about the session go to the AORN for National's website at http://www.aorn.org/congressad.html.  There you can go into Events and find the list of events, their times and CE value.  For Saturday's events there will be 7.8 Contact hours, and on Sunday there will be 4.8.  So plan on being there and learning whatever you can to increase your professional skills in an area of interest to you.

Quarterly Meeting

Because AORN Congress is in March, and our spring conference is in April, there will not be a quarterly meeting and in-service in March. The Board will be holding it's regular monthly meetings on Feb 17, March 24 and April 28 (immediately after the conference).

Please remember to send your e-mail address to Deb Brown so we can send your newsletter via e-mail.  dbaorn2309@aol.com

Congress Is Coming!

AORN Congress is in Dallas this year and is coming up quickly! The delegates for our chapter will be:
- Linda Becker
- Gloria Lowrance
- Shirley Sutton-Rop
- Laurie Brown
- Phyllis Waltman.
The Chapter will give each delegate monetary assistance to help cover the cost of this wonderful experience.  Usually we send 5 delegates and 2 alternates; however, only the above five people applied to attend.  If there are any other members who would like to participate in this great opportunity, please contact Maryann Fusillo: 123 Delano St., Allegan, MI 49010. It isn't too late!

Golf outing needing volunteers

Our first annual SWMAORN Golf Outing fundraiser has been slated for Saturday, September 22, 2001 at Cheshire Hills Golf Course. Cheshire Hills is a beautiful, 27-hole course located between Allegan and Gobles. Be sure to keep that date open for some relaxation and fun with your friends and colleagues.  We will need much assistance to make this a success, so if you are interested in lending a hand, contact Shirley Sutton-Rop (616) 673-8719 or shirley.rop@mediware.com
